Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP; OMIM #135100) begins in childhood and leads to irreversible restriction of movement, functional impairment, and shortened life-span. Individuals with FOP develop progressive limitations in chest expansion, resulting in restrictive lung disease.
